I did at first then I guess "fear" struck...could you imagine a few years from now the genes of this wolf in a pack? Could you imagine more than 1 pack. I reckon I do not have anything to fear in NC...but you fellers out west and up north...uh no more camping trips...I know the Wolf debate is ongoing and has fuel for both sides. I do not intend to drum up this debate here. I simply was in awe of such a creature.

It's a debate hereabouts, for sure. Wolves have been seen in the area, but they are not common. I'm pretty sure I saw a couple several years ago, not too far from the house. Ranchers are in no doubt about what should be done with them. Looks like an old boy to me and I bet there are PLENTY of his genes in that pack already.

Well, Caddo, as you know, I have a little ranch. Nope, it didn't occur to me at all.

Not surprising. I have no quarrel with those who seek to protect their place and their stock. I guess I just get more injun the older I get. Or feeble minded. Take your pick!

And, being 3/8ths Cherokee, I have no problem with gettin' more injun. :-D So far, I don't have to worry about such stuff. My Pyrenees are intimidating anything that comes near the goats. I think it was before you visited that I heard the coyote/feral dog pack raising cain around the goat pasture. By the time I got over there, those little dogs had run them off. And, they aren't little anymore.

Ain't good dogs wonderful??

I'll tell you, Parson, Good Dogs are the best of the best. And from what I saw when I was there, yours are pretty near at the top of the heap. Even as wee pups they were on duty and meant it! Ya gotta love 'em!

Pardon the tangent. I don' t mean to steal the thread. For those who don't know, the boy, Sir Lancelot, is the black and white. He's 11 months old. The girl, Lady Pendragon, is 9 months. He stands on his hind legs now and rests his front paws on my shoulders. And, I'm 5' 10".

Back to the subject, our wildlife dept will say we have no wolves in OK. I have seen one, just one. It was south of the town of Chickasha, loping across a field by itself. It didn't look as big as this one's hind leg.

(This doesn't count three timber wolves imported by a drug dealer and released on land that bordered a friend's father's land. They were imported and don't count.)

we see wolves at the farm once in while. NOT as big as that one Thank God!!
we have one lone male that trucks thru the area about once every 3 months or so. all black with a white blaze on his front L. leg. for a while, he wore a radio collar that had MI ID on it.(we could see it thru binoculars) but somewhere somehow he slipped out it. we send MI DNR the ID # but never heard back from them. we have talked to MN DNR about him too. he has never caused problems at our place, just wanders along the creek and leaves. we also have a pyrenees too, Suffa dog.
