i have 5 different loads to try in the monster 9.5 inch srh tomorrow

some 44 special 240 grain swc puff loads 5.5 grains of unique
13.2 grains of pp and a 240 grain jsp from a few years back loaded for a desert eagle
13.3 grains of pp and a 240 jsp by magtec
13.5 grains of pp and 240 jsp max load magtec
17.5 grains of 2400 and 270 grain jsp gold dot

next i need some 300 grain xtp's and i prolly have 240 grain xtp's somewhere and i stumbled across a 380 grain mold for a .444 that can be loaded in a .44 mag case that i would like to pickup and give a whirl.

i hope its not raining and i can find 9 volts for my chronograph lol if it is i'll just skip the chronograph and kill some paper plates and attempt to dial in the sights a bit.

of course the day i plan on shooting work wants me to work every day before after and of but hey i can go in early and get out early and still shoot so its all good.

WE have a little more daylight now plus we change clocks this coming weekend. You should be home clean.

well i fired a good number of the loads and my hand is far from sore, that 9.5 inch barrel tames the hot stuff and thats great because the heavier and faster the ammo the better it grouped yesterday.

i have some work to do though first everything is shooting way to the right, i have my rear sight cranked all the way to the left... the first thing to go are the right handed grips ruger puts on the gun and i guess i'll start with some hogues, they have some super recoil reduction grip i read about, not that i need it if i felt a bit of pain i may save myself some ammo lol.

13.2 grains was about a 4 inch group at 14 yards, new gun nasty weather impromptu rest on the bench to start with. 13.3, about the same, 13.5 got much better i was stringing them but they were all touching in about a 2" line.

i didnt notice much difference between the power pistol loads and i never even tried the 44 special's i had laying around.

then came the 270 grain gold dots, after 3 rounds i realized these were going to be the winners of the day, one ragged hole standing, unsupported at 14 yards on 3 hours of sleep 6 rounds still almost one ragged hole with a called flyer i just didnt pull the trigger well that one time lol.

next time with the sun out and less dense fog i will set up the chrono, i have plans to pickup some h110 as well and some magnum primers if i can find any, i have the winchester magnum/standard primers but i dont know if those will have the spark to support h110 they do have some fedral magnum match at work i guess i could pickup a few sleeves

the zombie gun got a test run to, loaded it up to the gills with #6 shot 17 rounds and recoil was negligable, its the first time i have had a decent recoil pad on a 12 ga and all that extra weight made it pretty nice.

I'm a little late here, but I've used WW296 and H110 in my 44 maggies for decades, and I NEVER use a magnum primer. Use them if you want, but you don't need them.

Ditto here. My hottest .44 loads for both rifle and carbine were cooked up with H110 and I never bothered with magnum caps.

Yours has a 9.5" barrel? Maybe you got one of those undersized Walmart tape measures.

hmm, thats interesting to hear to, when you fired them did you ever do it in cold temps around freezing or lower?

the only reason i wonder is if i used them for hunting and they get really cold it could be a factor.

I've killed deer with them in pretty cold temps.
